Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a full-time vacancy for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Special Education Department. An LPN is needed to perform professional nursing services to students with disabilities in the classroom, community, etc. as stated on student IEP’s. Must provide and maintain acceptable health standards, school health records, and the emergency treatment of student and employee health problems in accordance with state and district policies; does related work as required.Qualifications: Must hold valid New York State LPN licensure and current CPR and AED certifications;The ability to work both independently and cooperatively with other nursing and instructional staff;Top-notch oral and written skills;Strong attention to detail;Willingness to take responsibility for student and staff well-being, and the ability to appropriately respond to pediatric illness and/or injury.Characteristics Desired: Previous school district experience or working with special need pediatric patients strongly preferred. Previous experience with administering medications is strongly preferred. Candidates must be highly organized, have strong attention to accurate record keeping, flexible, and have effective communication and problem-solving skills. A positive, can-do attitude is a must.
