Position Overview: The Speech and Language Therapists Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the delivery of speech and language services for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) Part 200 regulations. This individual will provide direct therapeutic services, support all employed Speech and Language Therapists with professional development, application of best practices, ensure accurate documentation and reporting, and serve as a liaison among staff, families, and outside agencies to support student communication development and academic success. Responsibilities and Duties: Coordination and Compliance: Oversee the implementation of speech and language therapy services in accordance with students’ IEPs and NYSED Part 200 regulations. Coordinate and schedule evaluations, re-evaluations, and related service sessions. Attend and collaborate with the Committee on Special Education (CSE) to ensure timely and compliant service delivery. Review and ensure accuracy of IEP goals, progress reports, and therapy documentation for compliance and quality. Monitor caseload distribution and workload management among district speech and language therapists(SLTs). Clinical and Instructional Duties: Plan, organize, and conduct speech and language therapy sessions to address communication needs of students with disabilities. Assess students’ speech, language, and communication abilities using formal and informal measures. Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with IEP goals and New York State Learning Standards. Evaluate and document student progress; prepare periodic and annual progress reports. Provide teachers and instructional staff with strategies to support language development in the classroom. Consult with families regarding home strategies and progress updates. Research and implement evidence-based therapy methods and resources. Leadership and Professional Development: Provide mentoring, training, and technical support to speech and language therapists and related service providers. Facilitate professional development workshops to enhance staff understanding of communication disorders and intervention strategies. Stay current with NYSED policies, professional standards, and emerging best practices in speech and language therapy. Administrative and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and confidential student records, session notes, and service logs. Ensure all documentation meets NYSED and district compliance requirements inclusive of Medicaid. Participate in CSE meetings and contribute to the development of IEPs. Prepare data and reports for internal and state-mandated audits. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or her designee. Qualifications: Valid New York State License to serve as a Speech-Language Therapist (All Grades). Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience providing speech and language therapy in a school based setting. Demonstrated experience coordinating or supervising related service staff preferred. Strong understanding of IDEA, NYSED Part 200 Regulations, and IEP development. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet compliance timelines.
