The mission of our School District, through an active partnership among the community, parents, staff and students, is to develop responsible and self-sufficient citizens who value cultural diversity, are creative and adaptable, and possess the self-esteem, motivation and skills to continue individual growth, think critically, and communicate effectively.Thank you for your interest in a career in Port Chester Public Schools.Requirements:NYS Certified Special Education Teacher K-12orStudents with Disabilities certificate in Grades 5-9orStudents with Disabilities certificate in Grades 1-6 and Grades 7-12A bilingual extension (Spanish- English) is preferred.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Conduct evaluations inclusive of curriculum-based assessmentInstructional compliance with all IDEA and NYSED Part 200 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of EducationApply proficiency with IEP Direct to manage students’ recordsParticipate at CSE meetingsConfer with teachers, parents, and related service providers regarding data to support student developmentKnowledge of current trends in special education, research methods, testing and evaluation techniquesMaintain accurate records and service logsComplete other Special Education related duties as assigned by the School Principal, the Director of Special Education and/or their designeeCandidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally with parents, students, and other constituent groups
