Elementary Schools ELL Professional Development Coach & Dual Language Programs Community Parent Liaison Responsibilities include: Create K-5 strategic support plan for parents of ELLs in all ENL & bilingual programs. Participate in ELL data analysis (ELA, Math, NYSESLAT, ENIL, et al) and use this and community needs assessments to make programmatic and materials recommendations and create district- and building-level professional development. Develop professional development opportunities for new one- and two-way dual language programs (K-5) based on community needs assessments. Design professional development opportunities for English as a New Language (ENL) programs (K-5). Create grade-level and individual instructional improvement plans based on building feedback and district guidelines. Adapt and align current ELL/BIL services to local, state, and federal regulations including compliance with CR Part 154 regulation. Design parent workshops to inform parents about ELL/Bilingual and Dual Language programs. Train parents about DL curriculum, and available resources to support biliteracy and biculturalism. Collaborate with Community School Coordinators to provide support to parents of all English Language Learners. Engage in individual and small group Professional Development Coaching Cycles based on K-5 schools’ administration feedback and recommendations from Director of ELL programs. Coaching Cycle plans will include modeling of lessons, developmental feedback and growth plans with/for individual teachers, lesson-planning with individual and grade-level teachers, and Professional Learning Communities, among other growth-oriented structures. In collaboration with the Director of ELL & Bilingual programs, the coach will plan, design, and deliver the CR Part 154-required professional development to both general teachers (15 % of annual district PD) and teachers of ELLs with TESOL/ Bilingual License (50% of annual district PD). Work and collaborate with other K-5 instructional coaches and other designated staff on all efforts related to ELL/Bilingual programming. Work collaboratively to adjust and adapt district’s K-5 curricula (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) for ELL programs and create professional development opportunities associated with curricula and NGSS state standards. Assist with implementation of Title III-funded programs for parental engagement and student support. Research, acquire, organize, and support ELL teachers in obtaining appropriate resources and materials such as, but not limited to, books, assessment programs, software, et al. Attend appropriate professional development opportunities for continuous learning and growth, including coaching model PD. Assist Director of ELLs and Bilingual Programs with all K-5 ELL district initiatives. Other duties as requested by the Superintendent of Schools or designee. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration, and support with a variety of community stakeholders: parents, teachers, building/district personnel, et al. 5 years of experience as ENL or Bilingual Teacher Experience in One- and/or Two-Way Dual Language programs (Spanish target language) 3-5 years of classroom coaching experience Extensive knowledge of CR Part 154, including experience with implementation of state-mandated language acquisition assessments Spanish academic bilingual proficiency Certification Required Childhood Education 1-6 Early Education Birth-2 Common Branch N-6 NYS Certification in TESOL and/or Bilingual Extension
