The following positions are available for the 2023-2024 school year:2- Instructional Support Specialist-K-5 ELL/Bilingual (one leave replacement) Responsibilities include:Conduct qualitative and quantitative community needs assessment (i.e., parents, teachers, building/district administrators) related to the district's new dual language programs.Use district’s community needs assessments to improve implementation of new dual language programsCreate a K-5 strategic support plan for parents of ELLs in all ENL & bilingual programs.Participate in ELL data analysis (ELA, Math, NYSESLAT, IRLA/ENIL, et al) and use this and community needs assessments to create district- and building-level professional development.Develop professional development opportunities for one- and two-way dual language programs based on community needs assessments.Design professional development opportunities for K-5 English as a New Language (ENL) programs.Design and attend Parent University workshops to inform parents about One- and Two-Way Dual Language (DL) programs and other curriculum initiatives.Train parents about DL curriculum, and available resources to support biliteracy and multiculturalism.Collaborate with Community School Coordinators in order to provide appropriate support to parents of all ELLs via information and afterschool workshops.Engage in individual and small group Professional Development Coaching Cycles and development plans based on K-5 schools’ administration feedback and recommendations from the Director of ELLand Bilingual Education. Coaching Cycle plans will include: modeling of lessons, developmental feedback and growth plans with/for individual teachers, lesson-planning with individual and grade-level teachers, and Professional Learning Communities, among other growth-oriented structures.In collaboration with the Director of ELL & Bilingual Education, K-8 Supervisor, and other instructional staff, the coach will plan, design, and deliver the CR Part 154-required professional development to both general teachers and teachers of ELLs with TESOL/ Bilingual License.Work and collaborate with Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of ELL and Bilingual Education instructional support specialist, and instructional staff in order to adjust and adapt the district's K-5 curricula (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) for ELL programs and create Professional Development opportunities associated with new curricula and state standards.Assist with implementation of Title III-funded programs for parental engagement and student support.Research, acquire, organize, and support ELL teachers in obtaining appropriate resources and materials such as, but not limited to, books, assessment programs, software, et al.Attend appropriate professional development opportunities for continuous learning and growth, including coaching model PD. Assistant Director of ELLs and Bilingual Education with all K-5 ELL district initiatives. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration, and support with a variety of community stakeholders: parents, teachers, building/district personnel, et al. 5+ years of experience as ENL or Bilingual Teacher Experience in One- and/or Two-Way Dual Language programs (Spanish target language) Experience with implementation of state-mandated language acquisition assessments K-5 classroom coaching experience preferred but not required Knowledge of CR Part 154, including experience with implementation of state-mandated language acquisition assessments Advanced academic Spanish proficiency required Certification Required Childhood Education 1-6, Early Education Birth-2, or Common Branch N-6 NYS Certification in TESOL and/or Bilingual ExtensionApplications will be collected until the position is filled.
