School District TreasurerPort Chester-Rye Union Free School District, located in Westchester County is currently accepting applications for the position of School District Treasurer. The district serves approximately 4700 students in grades K – 12 at six schools. T The position is a confidential and exempt position, requires a 12 month work year, and reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Superintendent of Schools. General Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Receive and hold in trust all school monies, except moneys from athletic events and pupil organization activities, and deposit them in the bank or banks designated by the Board within forty eight hoursProtect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.Pay out school monies only on warrants made payable to the person entitled to receive payment and specify the object for which it is issued.Receive school employee payrolls the full amount of each payroll certified Superintendent of Schools, fund a separate payroll account to the full amount of each payroll, and issue individual checks drawn on such account to each employee.Maintain and share knowledge of current developments, current interpretations, and current methodology of financial accounting.Prepare accurate Treasurer’s reports for the Board of EducationPrepare accurate cash flow reports, budget projectionsPrepare required filings with the New York State Education Department and federal government agencies in a timely fashionPrepare financial records for the external, internal, and claims auditorsAttend Board of Education and staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staffEffectively supervise a team of Business Office staff members Successful candidates must:Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral characterDemonstrate expertise in and experience with municipal accounting proceduresDemonstrate knowledge of and experience with financial systems (nVision)Possess knowledge of NYS public school district requirements for internal and external auditing and complianceExhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with the administration, support staff members, and members of the community.Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of EducationSchool District Treasurer Page 2 QUALIFICATIONS: The School District Treasurer should possess a degree in the Business / Accounting fieldHave prior experience working in a public-school business officeKnowledge of New York Public education regulations and reporting requirements. Salary: Commensurate with experience – regionally competitive.
