Media Coordinator- 12 Month Position Required Knowledges, Skills and Abilities:This is an administrative position responsible for preparing and providing various information to the community regarding the school district utilizing modern and consistent branding strategies across a wide variety of media types. The incumbent is also responsible for providing support at the district office as needed. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent, and/or designee, with leeway allowed for the use of independent judgement while following prescribed policies and procedures. Although supervision is not a function of this position, the incumbent may direct the work of support staff assigned to various projects or events. Does related work as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in public relations, journalism, communications, English, graphic design, or a closely related field.B. Possession of an Associate’s Degree in public relations, journalism, communications, English, graphic design, or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in public relations, advertising, journalism, communications, graphic design, or any work in an educational environment that required preparation of materials for dissemination to the public. C. Graduation from high school, or the possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and four (4) years of experience in public relations, advertising, journalism, communications, graphic design, or any work in an educational environment that required preparation of materials for dissemination to the public.D. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A, B, and C above.Note: Vacancies are filled by a certified list provided by the City of Oneonta Civil Service Commission. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for the City of Oneonta to obtain a permanent appointment.
