Nyack Public Schools is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure-track Orchestra Teacher position serving Nyack Middle School (grades 6-8) students in a vibrant, diverse community for the 2025-2026 school year.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching strings with an emphasis on music literacy, students’ social emotional well-being, equity, and social justice. Candidates must be certified in Music Education and should demonstrate strong knowledge of string pedagogy, outstanding conducting/rehearsal skills, strong knowledge of advanced string repertoire (NYSSMA Level V-VI) and effective use of technology in the classroom.Qualities required include Departmental, Building, and District-wide collaboration, excellent communication skills, and culturally responsive teaching. Candidates must be certified in NYS Music PreK-12 (K-12); additional certifications such as Kodaly, Orff and/or Dalcroze, or other relevant training pertaining to the position are highly encouraged.Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
