The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction provides visionary leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the district’s instructional programs. This leader ensures that curriculum and instructional practices are aligned with New York State standards and are designed to promote the highest levels of student achievement, instructional excellence, and community engagement across all content areas.This individual works collaboratively with the Director of Equity and the Directors of K–12 Curriculum and Supervision to foster an inclusive, rigorous, and aligned instructional program. Additionally, the Assistant Superintendent coordinates Title grants, ensuring strategic use of federal funds to support district goals and student successKey Responsibilities and AttributesExtensive knowledge of New York State curriculum standards, instructional pedagogy, current educational trends, and NYSED regulations.Expertise in vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment in collaboration with teachers, building leaders, and district administrators.Strategic vision for program development that prepares students for 21st-century success, including college and career readiness.Deep understanding of professional learning systems that support educator growth and instructional excellence.Knowledge of federal Title grants (e.g., Title I, II, III, IV). Ability to lead the planning and implementation of district-wide instructional initiatives with a focus on impact and equity.Proficient in analyzing and applying data to drive evidence-based decision-making.Strong project management and organizational skills, with a focus on outcomes and accountability.Collaborative mindset and ability to work closely with the Director of Equity and K–12 Curriculum and Supervision Directors. Flexibility to travel within the district as needed. Capacity to lead through change and manage ambiguity with confidence.Commitment to teamwork, shared leadership, and continuous improvement. Willingness to oversee special projects as assigned by the Superintendent.Minimum QualificationsFive years demonstrated success in an administrative leadership role, preferably within district-level or central office administration. Proven experience in implementing successful, district-wide curriculum initiatives that result in measurable student achievement and instructional improvementExcellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills. Technological proficiency in instructional and administrative systems.New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification required.Competitive compensation and benefit package commensurate with experience.
