City School District of New RochelleEmbracing Diversity: Driving SuccessThe City School District of New Rochelle is seeking K-12 reading teachers and teaching assistants for the expanded learning student experience for Summer 2023. Summer Stars “Concentrated Reading Program” teachers and teaching assistants will implement reading intervention curricular resources and literacy programs to provide a concentrated reading intervention for striving students. Faculty Hours: 8:30am-12:30pm, Monday-ThursdayPre-Summer: Spring 2023 Participate in scheduled professional learning activities and planning meetings during the week of June 26th. During Summer: 7/5/23 - 8/3/23 Provide daily reading intervention to students in grades K-12 from 8:30-12:30 Monday through Thursday. Requirements:Reading Teachers - Bachelor’s Degree and valid New York State Reading/Literacy Birth-6 teaching certificate or a valid New York State Reading/Literacy 5-12 teaching certificate. Experience delivering reading intervention in a small group setting. Preferred training in Orton Gillham Methodology. Teaching Assistants – Valid New York State Level II and III Teaching Assistant Certificate and experience delivering reading intervention in a small group setting. Summer Stars Exploration Teacher and Teaching Assistant Roles and Responsibilities: Participate in the engagement of stakeholders Engage in opportunities to learn, create and then execute the implementation of reading intervention Attend mandatory central office training sessions Receive instructional feedback to support teaching and learning Differentiate instruction for learners in the classroom setting. Administer pre and post assessments to provide targeted instruction and measure growth Collaborate with site leader and the Director of Expanded Learning and Social Emotional Learning to build and strengthen the summer learning community Use data to differentiate instructional practices and plan small group instruction Manage classroom systems, procedures and expectations that support site policies Influence student behavior using a restorative approach Participate in weekly meetings and professional learning opportunitiesNYS Certification is required at time of applicationEOE: Minority candidates are encouraged to applyPlease do not send resumes to Human Resources: They will not be accepted.
