Qualifications: Certified in grades 7-12 ELA with grade 6 extensionExtensive literacy background with a focus on the explicit teaching of reading and writing· Extensive knowledge of Next Generation ELA Standards and aligned instruction· Understanding of the latest pedagogical and research developments/initiatives in the reading and writing instruction · Evidence of self-reflective practices, coachability, self-motivation, and collaboration· Understanding of early adolescent development in promoting agency, critical literacy, and independent readers and writers· Experience using data analysis protocols to drive instructional planning· Demonstrated track record of monitoring and facilitating instructional gains· Successful experience implementing a Balanced Literacy Instruction and Workshop Model Teaching· Experience implementing Culturally Responsive Teaching and vast experience working with diverse populations· Have the ability to meet the needs of students through differentiated and small group instruction· Working knowledge of contemporary high-interest middle school books (across genres and text types)· Skills to infuse technology into lessons· Dedication to continual and active professional learning, department and interdisciplinary collaboration, and building school-community partnerships · Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply· Dual certification in ESL, Literacy/Reading is a plus NYS Certification is required at time of applicationEOE: Minority and Bilingual candidates are encouraged to applyPlease do not send resumes to Human Resources: They will not be accepted
