The Norwich City School District is seeking a high school science teacher for a probationary tenure-track position, beginning September 2024. The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to: Provide student-centered, engaging Science instruction for a range of learners at multiple levelsPossess a strong commitment to creating a supportive learning environment and school cultureDeliver effective instruction to prepare for the NYS Science Regents exam and beyondConduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as neededPossess a proven ability to interact effectively with students and their families who represent cultures that are diverse in terms of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and other characteristics in order to build an effective and collaborative school communityRecognize trauma’s impact on the brain and how to support and be responsive to all learnersOrganize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.Demonstrate a willingness to advocate for students when issues of equity emergeCertified in Living Environment 7-12 OR Earth Science 7-12The Norwich City School District is looking to grow professionals who are interested in:Collaborative Professional Learning CommunitiesResponsive and personalized professional development specifically designed for new teachersAn innovative Multi-Tiered System of Support process focusing on an effective Tier 1 curriculum, social emotional well-being, family/community engagement and innovationA supportive observational structure and cultureSalary: $48,550 - $96,000 *commensurate with education and experience.
