The Senior Account Clerk independently performs moderately complex financial accounting and recordkeeping functions, with primary responsibilities in accounts payable and payroll support. This position requires a highly detail-oriented and organized individual who can effectively manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment and possess strong communication skills. The Senior Account Clerk reports directly to the District Business Administrator. Key Responsibilities Process accounts payable, including entering requisitions and completing purchasing activities as needed Review and pay invoices; communicate with and follow up with vendors as necessary Collect and maintain new employment documentation Work with an external payroll service provider to support payroll processing Assist with year-end audit preparation and related documentation Other assigned office tasks Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following: Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or a closely related field from a New York State registered or regionally accredited college or university; or Completion of 60 college credit hours from a New York State registered or regionally accredited institution, including at least 12 credit hours in accounting or bookkeeping; or High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience maintaining financial accounts and records; or An equivalent combination of education and experience as outlined above Candidates must meet Civil Service requirements, including eligibility for examination and being reachable on the eligible list.
