This role is essential in ensuring the effective coordination and delivery of special education services within the district. The position requires a commitment of two days per week. Key Responsibilities:Budget Development: Manage and develop the special education budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support student needs.Professional Development: Organize and plan professional development for faculty and staff based on student and programming needs.NYSED Reporting: Ensure compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) reporting requirements and maintain accurate records.Supervision of CSE Sub Chairs: Provide guidance and oversight to CSE sub chairs, ensuring consistency and quality in special education services across the district.Initial Referrals: Manage the process for initial referrals to special education, ensuring timely and appropriate evaluations.Change in Placement Meetings: Facilitate change in placement meetings, ensuring decisions are made in the best interest of students and in compliance with regulations.Programming: Oversee SPED programming and student placement based on student needsQualifications:Education: Special Education certification SDL (School District Leader) certification or an equivalent qualification. Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in a related field, demonstrating a strong understanding of special education processes and requirements.Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
