Title: Instructional Coach (K-6 Classroom Teacher) - In Anticipation Start Date: August 30, 2023 Pay Scale: As per the NBTA Contract Description: North Bellmore is seeking a K-6 certified classroom teacher to service in the capacity of an Instructional Coach district-wide. The Instructional Coach reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and the Director of Education Programs and Staff Development. Expectations: Strong background in Balanced Literacy and the Science of Reading researchMastery of best practices with respect to RtI/MTSS Strong understanding of the workshop modelExperience working with students in a student-centered, hands-on context, that strives to have each student engage in the concrete and abstract understandings in MathUnderstand and support teachers with implementing interventions for Multi-language and English-language learners Knowledge of teaching and learning strategies to meet a wide range of student learning abilities and styles; ability to adapt teaching methods to needs of the student populationUnderstanding of the Next Generation Learning Standards in ELA and MathExperience of integrating technology into classroom instruction to enhance instructionAbility to differentiate instruction with respect to remediation and enrichment, as neededSupport the instructional development of all teachers in all content areas: Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social StudiesCreate coaching cycles and develop coaching plans; provide meaningful and relevant feedback to foster a teacher's professional growth and students' successSupport teachers with the implementation of curricula; provide direction and coordination for how various curricula are taught and incorporating the best instructional practicesAbility to work with teachers to help them to respond to student learning needs by recognizing student learning and thinking Assist teachers, in all areas, with resources, materials, tools, technology, classroom organization, behavior management, etc. to support classroom instruction and planningHelp teachers with the planning and pacing of differentiated lessons; support teachers when planning for the varying needs of learners using whole group, small group and 1:1 instruction Support teachers and administrators in using and analyzing data that measures progress towards the standards and to use that data to drive instruction and instructional groupingsBe responsive to the needs of teachers and administrators; be a flexible thinker and adaptableExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coachesExceptional communication skills, both oral and writtenCommit to continual professional growth Present at required Professional Development; develop teachers’ content knowledge, skills, and pedagogyAttend all required meetings and Professional Development Actively engage with the North Bellmore community in fulfilling its mission Uphold all school policies within the classroom Maintain organized records of anecdotal notes and assessments Comply with and execute all safety and security protocols/procedures for the building and district Other duties as assigned Requirements: NYS Certificate in General Education:Grades K – 6,N-6 orB-2 and 1-6 Excellent organizational skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, administrators, staff members, and students Expertise in all subject areas K-6, preferred EOE Employer: The North Bellmore School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in its employment decisions and practices on the basis of legally protected classes in accordance with Federal and State law.
