The Nassau BOCES Department of Special Education is seeking Teachers of Speech and Hearing Handicapped/Teachers of Speech and Language Disabilities to support a range of students from birth to 22 years old. Services provided may include students with disorders of language, articulation, phonology, fluency and pragmatics. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conducting speech and language re-evaluations for special education students Delivering individual and group speech-language services in either the therapy and/or classroom, as per student Individualized Education Program (IEP) mandates Maintaining accurate records, session notes, Medicaid related documents, and data collection documents Collaborating with teachers, administrators, parents and component school districts Maintaining communication with and providing required documentation to supervisor Participating in staff meetings and staff development workshops Performing all responsibilities assigned by the appropriate program administrator and/or supervisor REQUIREMENTS: New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification: Speech and Language Disabilities New York State Speech Language Pathology License is preferred American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred Experience working with children and adolescents with autism and/or emotional and behavioral disorders is preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office products
