The Department of Special Education at Nassau BOCES is seeking a Library Media Specialist. The successful candidate must have experience in curating and managing a dynamic school library program that supports the New York State Learning Standards and district curriculum. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Collaborating with teachers to design and implement instruction that integrates information literacy, digital citizenship, and research skills Promoting a reading culture by facilitating reading programs and book clubsTeaching students how to locate, evaluate, and ethically use information from a variety of sources Maintaining the library collection, including selection, acquisition, cataloging, and weeding of materials Ensuring students and staff have equitable access to a wide range of print and digital records Maintaining library technology tools and online databasesProviding tech support and training as neededREQUIREMENTS: New York State Education Department Certification: Library Media SpecialistMaster's degree in library and information science from an accredited programKnowledge of current educational technology, digital tools, and library automation systems Strong interpersonal, communications, and collaboration skillsPassion for literacy, student engagement, and innovation in education
