The Program Specialist II oversees natural, ecological, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and historical programs at various sites. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Act as the site director to supervise, monitor, train and support personnel assigned to the program. Facilitate regional and in-district professional development sessions on science content that supports the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and the New York State Science Learning Standards. Oversee the activities of the entire field program (across multiple sites). Organize special activities, workshops and conferences. Write, review and evaluate curriculum or other training materials. Serve as the program/activity liaison and collaborate with school district staff members to implement program initiatives. Perform other related duties as needed. REQUIREMENTS: New York State Education Department Certification: School District Administrator (SDA)/School District Leader (SDL) preferred. New York State Education Department Certification: Science Teacher Professional. Knowledge of staff development, instructional techniques and learning theory. Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, presentation and communication skills. Availability to travel throughout Nassau County. If the candidate is a certified guidance counselor, a New York State Education Department Administrative Certification (SDA/SDL) is required, or the candidate must be enrolled in a leadership program which could result in a New York State Administrative Certification (SDA/SDL) and qualify for an Internship Certificate.
