The successful candidate will collaborate with students, teachers, administrators and parents to enhance the academic, personal, social and career development of students in their respective grades. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Working with students of varying ability levels and providing data regarding student progress.Supporting the mandates of student Individualized Education Program (IEPs) for transition programs and services specifically designed for students with disabilities to achieve post-secondary goals.Expanding career pathways by helping students build their academic, technical and professional skills through work-based learning experiences.Providing career counseling, planning and participation in Career and Technical Education (CTE) coursework and work-based learning programs.Implementing the mandates of Erin’s Law to support social and emotional competencies for all students in school programs.Requirements:New York State Education Department Certification: School Counselor.Proven ability to develop and implement data-driven plans to meet individual student needs.Experience working with students with disabilities at the middle and high school levels is preferred.Demonstrated cultural competency through familiarity in working with students and families of diverse backgrounds.Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency in using Microsoft Office products.*** IN ADDITION TO APPLYING ON OLAS, ALL APPLICANTS MUST VISIT THE NASSAU BOCES Employment Opportunities PAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATION ***
