Description:The Nassau BOCES Department of Curriculum, Instruction & Technology is seeking a School Social Worker for the My Brother’s Keeper Family & Community Engagement Grant Program (FCEP). The goal of the FCEP Grant Program is to increase the academic achievement and college and career readiness of boys and young men of color. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:* Serve as the Nassau BOCES representative to the FCEP Grant Advisory Group.* Provide family advocacy services and connect students and families with educational and community services to support student achievement and family practices.* Provide direct, targeted social services to students and families on an as-needed basis, including home visits.* Work to maximize coping skills for students in difficult situations.* Develop and provide crisis intervention strategies to improve student success.* Coordinate student/family services with various school personnel such as school counselors, teachers, school building/district central office administrators, and other student support personnel.Requirements:* NYSED Certification: School Social Worker and a valid LMSW or LCSW license are required.* Ability to develop creative solutions to challenging situations and travel throughout Nassau County is required.* Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.Apply on OLAS and Click here to complete application
