Music Education Teacher This is a 10-month, probationary position with a start date of 9/1/26. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a NYS Music Teacher Certification. Application Deadline: 5/15/26 Start Date: 9/1/26 Salary: Per current MMTA contract; level of education and experience will be considered. This position reports to the Building Principal. We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered music educator to lead our 5th–8th grade instrumental and general music programs. Core Responsibilities Instructional Leadership General Music (Grades 5-8): Design and deliver engaging, standards-based general music curricula. Instrumental Lessons (Grades 5-8): Provide high-quality small group or individual pull-out lessons. Ensemble Direction Beginning Band (Grade 5): Introduce students to their instruments, fundamental music reading, and the basics of ensemble playing. 6th Grade Band: Bridge the gap between introductory skills and intermediate literature, focusing on blend, balance, and expanded ranges. 7th-8th Grade Band: Direct the premier middle school ensemble, focusing on expressive performance, complex signatures, and preparing students for high school-level repertoire. Departmental Collaboration Work closely with music department colleagues to ensure instructional continuity. Participate in curriculum mapping to align technical benchmarks (scales, rhythms, articulation) across grade levels. Key Qualifications Strong knowledge of woodwind, brass, and percussion pedagogy. Ability to maintain a positive, high-energy, and inclusive rehearsal environment. Excellent interpersonal skills for communicating with parents, administrators, and the broader community regarding performances and student prog ress.
