High School Social Studies Teacher This is a 10-month, probationary position with a start date of 9/1/26. The Social Studies Teacher will be responsible for delivering a rigorous curriculum that fosters historical thinking, geographic literacy, and an understanding of economic and political systems. The successful candidate will prepare students to be informed, active citizens in a global society. Required Qualifications Candidates must possess a NYS Social Studies (7-12) Teacher Certification. Application Deadline: 4/3/26 Start Date: 9/1/26 Salary: Per current MMTA contract; level of education and experience will be considered. Reports to: Building Principal The candidate will: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the standards aligned with NYS Regents. Use primary and secondary sources to help students develop evidence-based arguments and analytical skills. Utilize diverse instructional strategies (e.g., Socratic seminars, debates, and project-based learning) to make history relevant to modern life. Use data-driven assessments to track student progress and differentiate instruction for a diverse classroom of learners. Maintain a respectful, inclusive environment that encourages the civil exchange of differing viewpoints. Build strong professional relationships with the department and proactively engage with families regarding student achievement.
