The Mount Markham Central School District is looking for a highly qualified, dynamic individual with strong leadership skills. The primary responsibility of this position would be to oversee all aspects of the transportation department and ensure the safe transport of students to and from school in an efficient manner. More specifically, responsibilities include creating, managing, and revising bus routes using a computerized routing system; overseeing garage and fleet maintenance operations (proper maintenance and repair of the District’s buses, vehicles, and motorized equipment); ensuring department goals are met and services are provided in an efficient and effective manner (budgeted resources, reports); ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and district policy (training, coordinating, and routing of students with special needs- McKinney Vento Act); and overseeing all personnel functions (i.e. recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, and supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity, and achieving transportation objectives safely and efficiently.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either (A) Three years of experience as a full-time paid operator of a motor vehicle or its part-time equivalent, which shall include some experience in automotive repair and maintenance; OR (B) Three years of full-time paid experience as an automotive mechanic or its part-time equivalent; OR (C) Any equivalent combination of training and experience, as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above, sufficient to indicate the ability to perform the duties of the position.Must be certified or be willing to become a certified 19A examinerSalary: Competitive based on experience and qualifications
