The Malverne School District is seeking strong candidates who possess New York State certification in Music Education for an anticipated HS Band Director position. Candidates must have Competitive Marching Band/Drum Corps experience. Qualified candidates can submit their resume, letter of interest, and proof of certification to Michael Messina, District Supervisor of Music & Fine Arts, through OLAS. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in musicValid NYS Teacher certification in Music K-12Full NYS fingerprint clearance ESSENTIAL DUTIES:9th & 10th Grade Symphonic Band11th & 12th Grade Wind EnsembleAll aspects of the co-curricular Pride of Malverne Competitive Marching Band, including Band Camp (7/28-8/1), evening/weekend rehearsal and performance schedule, staff, equipment, transportation, pit crew, field props, home competition, local parades, Newsday Festival, State Championships, etc.Maintain inventory of instruments and uniformsSmall group pullout lessonsConduct the HS Musical Pit OrchestraPrepare students for NYSSMA, All-County, etc.Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.Submit weekly lesson plans to SupervisorParticipate in department, school, district meetings and professional development activitiesFoster and maintain effective communication with families.Establish a positive classroom environment through proactive methods, a clear management system, and strong student rapport.Demonstrate a relentless commitment to ensuring all students succeed at the highest levels.Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor, Principal or other appropriate administrator.
