The Malverne UFSD is looking for a leave replacement reading teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. While this position is initially offered as a leave replacement, there exists the potential for the role to evolve into a full-time opportunity for the 2025-2026 school year based on organizational needs and candidate performance. REQUIREMENTS: Must hold valid NYS Teacher certification in the following area(s) Literacy (B-6) and Childhood (1-6) * Pending Certifications will not be consideredThe successful candidate should be someone able to: Utilize data-driven instruction to monitor student progress and implement targeted, structured, and intense instruction as necessary to maximize the effectiveness of the RTI/MTSS process.Possess in-depth knowledge of specific evidence-based reading programs including Heggerty, Fundations, Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, and Fountas and Pinnell. Training in OG and Wilson is preferred.Conduct assessments to identify students at risk of reading difficulties and design targeted interventions to meet their needs.Implement and manage reading programs tailored to students in grades 3-5, ensuring alignment with state standards and educational best practices including the science of reading.Understand the Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education Framework and its interconnectedness with the science of reading.Collaborate with other reading teachers to integrate reading strategies across the curriculum and provide support for differentiated instruction.Assist with professional development sessions for staff on the latest reading instruction techniques and literacy trends.Engage families in their children's literacy development through workshops and regular communication.Demonstrate an exceptional ability to engage and motivate students in reading activities.Demonstrate proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance reading instruction.
