JOB TITLE: Supervisor of Student Services REPORTS TO: Asst Superintendent for Instruction & Community Relations NECESSARY CREDENTIAL: Must hold a current School District Administrator or School District Leader Certification in New York State.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The Supervisor of Student Services plays a pivotal role in ensuring the holistic well-being and academic success of students by overseeing critical student support programs, compliance initiatives, and professional development efforts. This position requires a strong leader with expertise in student services, special education compliance, civil rights investigations, and social-emotional learning, dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.Key Responsibilities:I. Student Services & 504 ComplianceServe as the 504 Compliance Officer for students, ensuring adherence to all federal regulations.Collaborate closely with building principals to oversee 504 committees and manage related processes, including eligibility determination, plan development, and implementation.Provide leadership and guidance to school staff regarding 504 accommodations and student support services.II. Instructional Support & MentorshipDirectly support the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction & Community Relations in overseeing and administering the District’s new teacher mentorship program, ensuring new educators receive comprehensive guidance and support.Perform special assignments and related instructional duties as directed by the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Community Relations, contributing to broader district educational goals.III. Teacher Evaluation (APPR)Conduct teacher evaluations in accordance with District policies and procedures, providing constructive feedback and supporting professional growth.IV. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)Collect and analyze data to understand the impact of SEL initiatives on school culture, student experiences, and academic outcomes, using findings to inform decisions and adjust practices.Conduct collaborative school and classroom observations with principals, curriculum leaders, and other school and district leaders to identify areas of strength and needed growth in support of the district's SEL goals.Coordinate and lead professional development sessions that deepen educators' understanding and skills to support SEL for the full range of learners in the classroom.Collaborate with out-of-school time partners to ensure greater alignment of the district’s SEL approach with after-school and other out-of-school programs.Make recommendations to the leadership team about varied initiatives, policies, objectives, partnerships, and the work happening in the SEL department as part of the broader district communication strategy for both internal and external stakeholders.Manage an operational budget to ensure effective allocation of SEL and mental/behavioral health resources.Collaborate with other school and district leaders to develop a comprehensive framework for social-emotional learning aligned to the CASEL competencies.Collaborate with and provide supervision, evaluation, mentoring, and professional growth and development opportunities to teachers and staff in the area of Social Emotional Learning.Provide leadership and direction to develop a comprehensive professional development plan to build educator capacity to implement and embed SEL practices in daily instruction.Coordinate training, programming, and community outreach regarding Social Emotional Learning, student asset building, and inclusion efforts of the District, including but not limited to the work of Yale RULER, Restorative Justice, SKY schools, etc.Provide training and support for the Dignity Act under law.Partner with school-based/district leaders, educators, clinical staff, and fellow Instructional colleagues to align SEL goals to district priorities and ensure integration into the curriculum and a cohesive approach to addressing students’ SEL and developmental needs.Supervise the School Counseling program, ensuring its effectiveness and alignment with district goals.Lead the continuous improvement of the district's SEL strategy, ensuring it is aligned to the district’s vision, instructional framework, and best practices from the SEL field.Partner with the District MTSS Committees and school leaders to identify Tier I instruction and tiered interventions within the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support framework around Social Emotional Learning.V. Title IX, DASA, and InvestigationsWork collaboratively with administrators on employee relations issues, including conducting investigations of alleged misconduct and other personnel matters, or overseeing outside contracted services as appropriate.Assist senior administration with all matters of staff and student investigations performed under all state and federal civil rights statutes, including Title IX and Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) regulations.Conduct thorough investigatory duties, including interviewing claimants, witnesses, and respondents with sensitivity and impartiality.Be responsible for the meticulous collection, review, and logging of all physical and digital artifacts and evidence collected or required as part of the investigatory process.Track all documentation regarding staff and student investigations, including filing, notifications, final determinations, and correspondence with legal counsel and all involved parties as appropriate.Prepare all supporting materials for submission to the appropriate decision-maker(s), appellate officer(s), and/or hearing officers as required.Please submit the following application materials:A completed OLAS application with a letter of interest, resume, copy of certification(s), and three (3) letters of recommendations attached to the OLAS application.
