With a population of just over 300 students, Menands Union Free School District is a unique Pre-K-8th grade school and district. We are a supportive and collaborative school community that works together to meet the diverse needs of our students in a nurturing and engaging environment.Menands School is accepting applications for a full-time, 10-month Pre-K teacher to begin in September 2025. The successful candidate must possess New York State Early Childhood (Birth-Grade 2) Certification. Preference will be given to individuals who:Hold dual or multiple certificationsHave relevant experience working with early learnersAre eager to engage in extracurricular activities and contribute to the school communityPre-k Teacher Expectations:Design and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and a love for learningDifferentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of young learners, recognizing their unique learning styles and cultural backgroundsCreate a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment that supports social-emotional growth and early academic skillsDevelop and utilize a variety of hands-on activities, sensory experiences, and interactive lessons to promote early literacy, math, and foundational skillsFoster strong communication and relationships with students, families, and colleaguesAssess student progress using authentic, observation-based assessments and share data with families and school leadersImplement strategies to develop students’ fine and gross motor skills, language development, and social interactionsUse visual supports, interactive displays, and learning centers to enhance student engagement and independenceModel and teach positive behavior expectations while using developmentally appropriate classroom management techniquesPartner with specialists, paraprofessionals, and support staff to address students' academic, social, and emotional needsEstablish open and consistent communication with parents and caregivers to foster a strong home-school connectionPre-k Teacher Key Qualities:Passionate about early childhood education and understands the developmental needs of 3- and 4-year-oldsStrong ability to create a warm, inclusive, and supportive classroomSkilled in child-centered, play-based, and inquiry-based learning approachesFlexible, patient, and responsive to the needs of young childrenEffective communicator who values collaboration with families, colleagues, and school leadershipCreative and resourceful in developing engaging and hands-on learning experiencesQualified, interested candidates should submit via OLAS a job specific cover letter, resume and other supporting documentation.
