Notice of Anticipated VacancyMay 24, 2023 Special Education Teacher K-6Shelter Rock Elementary SchoolThis position is available September 1st, 2023 Position Description:The successful candidate is motivated, engaging, and student centered with a demonstrated ability of working with students with varying disabilities. The duties include but are not limited to: Assessing students’ abilities and building individual lesson plans tailored to their specific needsDifferentiating existing curriculum on basic subjects to meet each student’s learning requirementsKeeping track of and reflecting on students’ progressMonitoring children’s behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions if neededManaging classroom crises and resolving conflictImplementing behavior intervention plansWorking with students who have significant learning and language disabilitiesPreparing students for transition to the next gradeInforming parents/guardians about their children’s performanceAttending committee meetings and participating in the development of educational plans Qualifications:New York State Dual Certification: Elementary and Students with Disabilities, Birth to Grade 2 and Grades 1-6. Additional certification as a Licensed Behavioral Analyst is preferred. Reading certification and Wilson experience is a plus.
