RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare and deliver band ensemble lessons for students in grades 4-5 that facilitate active learning and engagement aligned to National and State Core Arts Standards in Music. Provide group lessons to students to enhance their instrumental skills and musical understanding through music literacy and proper playing techniques. Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs. Utilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instruction. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe, welcomed, valued and supported in their musical journey and coordinate school-wide music programs and events. Work in a collaborative teaching environment with departmental colleagues districtwide to maintain and enhance the quality of music instruction for 4th & 5th grade Band music Communicate effectively orally and in writing Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Thorough knowledge of the NYS Core Arts in Music learning standards with experience in teaching elementary band. Proficiency in playing and teaching a variety of band instruments, including brass, woodwind and percussion. Ability to inspire and motivate young students in their musical pursuits. Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents and colleagues. Strong organizational and time management abilities to coordinate rehearsals, lessons and performances successfully. A commitment to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that supports the development of well-rounded musicians.
