Fostering and maintaining these beliefs supports high expectations and an ethic of care for all students and employees – where differences are seen as strengths to be nourished, celebrated, and welcomed.RESPONSIBILITIES: Chair meetings to determine student’s initial eligibility and continued eligibility for services under Section 504Develop and assist with the implementation of 504 plansCoordinates Section 504 referral process including the organization of notices and consentsSchedule, organize and conduct annual reviews of each Section 504 studentsAssist teachers, administrators and staff in developing and implementing program accommodations and strategies for struggling learners who may be eligible for 504 plan and/or special education servicesMaintain accurate and up-to-date data in the District’s Student Management System for Section 504 studentsAssist with coordinating accommodations for state assessments that are required based on the 504 planAttends regularly scheduled professional development and Section 504 training meetingsIdentify, organize and facilitate professional development pertaining to Section 504 regulations for staff and studentsOther duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: In-depth knowledge of social-emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate an affirming and welcoming classroom.Knowledge of the RTI process and MTSS structuresAbility to effectively communicate student progress and areas for growthKnowledge of updated research and best practices in the instruction of diverse learnersDemonstrated knowledge of Section 504 Regulations and LawsAbility to analyze data to determine next steps for student learning outcomes.Strong ability to work collaboratively with staff and familiesAbility to self-reflect on performance and professional growth; actively seek professional learning opportunities. Possession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certification, New York State School Psychologist Certification or New York State School Counselor CertificationBilingual (Spanish-English) preferred REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Student Support ServicesEthnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
