RESPONSIBILITIES:Teach a comprehensive middle school general music curriculum aligned with the NYS Arts Learning StandardsDesign and deliver sequential, developmentally appropriate instruction in general music concepts through ensemble-based music-making, percussion, world drumming, ukulele, other classroom instruments and music technology, including Soundtrap.Integrate listening, performing, creating, and responding into daily instructionUtilize music technology to enhance student creativity, collaboration, and engagementCollaborate and coordinate closely with other general music teachers to ensure curricular alignment, consistency, and vertical articulationDifferentiate instruction to support students with diverse learning needs (ENL, IEP, 504, etc.) while fostering a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming, affirming, and well-managedEstablish clear routines and expectations that promote positive student behavior and active participationPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Successful teaching experience in middle school general music or a related music education settingStrong knowledge of middle school general music pedagogy and curriculum designProficiency with music technology toolsDemonstrated ability to create engaging, culturally responsive, and student-centered learning experiencesStrong classroom management skills appropriate for the middle school learnerStrong communication and interpersonal skillsPossession of appropriate New York State Music Teacher Certification REPORTS TO: Building Principal Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
