The Mamaroneck Union Free School District seeks a visionary and strategic instructional leader to serve as Principal of Mamaroneck High School. We seek a leader who can both articulate a compelling vision for teaching and learning and translate that vision into coherent systems, measurable outcomes, and sustained improvement. The successful candidate will champion personalization, mentorship, and educator expertise while ensuring disciplined alignment to district priorities, the New York State Learning Standards, and the New York State Portrait of a Graduate. This leader will inspire innovation, build strong relationships, and steward a high-performing school community prepared for the future. RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as the primary instructional leader, advancing a coherent vision of teaching and learning grounded in personalization, authentic inquiry, and alignment to New York State Learning Standards and graduation requirements Ensure that students experience voice, choice, agency, and rigorous learning pathways that unlock individual strengths and aspirations Expand and strengthen rigorous academic opportunities, including Advanced Placement, honors coursework, college-credit opportunities, career and technical education, performing and visual arts, athletics, and extracurricular programs Promote equitable access to advanced coursework and post-secondary pathways for all students Engage families, higher education institutions, businesses, and community organizations to expand experiential learning, internships, mentorships, and civic engagement opportunities Cultivate educator voice and leadership through shared decision-making structures and collaborative professional learning communities Lead disciplined cycles of innovation and improvement using multiple data sources to drive strategic planning, refine practice, and measure impact Align school goals, resource allocation, and professional learning to the District scorecard and strategic priorities Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse, high-performing staff committed to excellence and equity Prepare and manage the school budget strategically, aligning resources to instructional priorities and measurable outcomes Oversee school safety, emergency preparedness, and crisis response planning to maintain a secure and supportive environment POSITION QUALIFICATIONS NYS SAS, SDA, or SBL Certification Minimum of five years successful building-level leadership experience, preferably at the high school level Minimum of five years successful teaching experience Demonstrated success articulating and implementing a coherent instructional vision grounded in personalization, inquiry, and high expectations Proven ability to translate strategic priorities into aligned systems, structures, and measurable student outcomes Strong knowledge of New York State Learning Standards (9–12), graduation requirements, accountability systems, and the New York State Portrait of a Graduate Experience fostering a culture of dignity, belonging, and authentic student-adult mentorship Evidence of building adult capacity through supervision, professional learning, shared decision-making, and collaborative inquiry Strong data literacy and experience leading disciplined cycles of continuous improvement Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated ability to unite diverse stakeholders around a shared mission Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
