RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide district-wide leadership and oversight of all interscholastic athletic programs and K–12 Health and Physical Education.Promote a shared vision of athletics that emphasizes character, perseverance, teamwork and sportsmanship with all stakeholders including coaches, administrators, students, parents, faculty and community members. Recruit, hire, supervise, evaluate, and develop coaches and athletic staff.Schedule and oversee all athletic events, transportation, officials, supervision, and facility usage.Ensure compliance with NYS, Section 1, NYSPHSAA, and Title IX regulations, including eligibility, transfers, waivers, and credentials.Maintain athletic department handbooks, emergency procedures, and operational policies.Supervise athletic trainers and coordinate coverage for practices and contests.Manage all accidents and injuries in accordance with school policies, and applicable laws and regulations, including reporting and documentation requirements.Facilitate home events, seasonal meetings (athletes, coaches, parents), and event security.Oversee department communications, including social media and family outreach.Develop and manage annual budgets; prepare seasonal and Board reports.Coordinate athletic schedules and facility usage across district buildings.Collaborate with facilities staff to maintain safe, teaching spaces and equipment.Support student-athlete conduct, eligibility, and wellness.Plan recognition events including senior awards, college signings, and scholar athlete celebrations.Serve as liaison to booster organizations, leagues, municipalities, and community partners.Ensure K–12 Health and Physical Education curricula align with NYS Learning Standards.Provide professional development and supervise Health and PE staff.Collaborate with and oversee curriculum coordinators to ensure ongoing staff development and curriculum updates in alignment with the NYS standards for Physical Education and health.Ensure instructional spaces and equipment meet safety and inspection requirements.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of New York State School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification.Demonstrated administrative experience in athletics, physical education, or a related educational field.Experience supervising staff, managing budgets, and coordinating large-scale programs.Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Teaching and/or coaching experience preferred.Ability to foster inclusive, student-centered, and high-performing programs.REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
