RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare and deliver specially designed instruction that is culturally responsive and aligned to grade-level standards and student IEP goals Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs Collect and analyze progress monitoring data per student IEP goals Evaluate students for the purposes of revaluations and initial CSE meetings Utilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instruction Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues Encourage family involvement in each student’s education, and ensure effective communication with students and families Promote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming, and affirming for all students Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching, interdisciplinary planning, and planning for teacher assistants/teacher aides Communicate effectively orally and in writing Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Experience delivering specialized instruction in a Resource Room and/or Integrated Co-Teaching setting Experience with and/or certification in multisensory reading methodology (ex. Orton-Gillingham, Wilson) Strong understanding of positive behavior reinforcement systems and task analysis Knowledge of high leverage special education practices Experience with IEP development - writing goals, progress monitoring and identification of modifications/accommodations In depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a classroom that is affirming and welcoming Thorough knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities Possession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certification REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Special Education Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
