RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote a school environment that is safe, welcoming, inclusive, and affirming for all students.Plan, prepare, and facilitate the Student Support Team.Oversee, prepare and implement restorative practices for the school.Communicate and collaborate with staff, administration, students, and parents.Assist and support in DASA investigations.Support, address, and monitor student needs and concerns.Establish systems and procedures to maintain and monitor student attendance, consequences, restorative practices, and progress monitoring records. Meet with and monitor/supervise students when pulled from instruction or when serving an in-school consequence.Provide guidance to students to help navigate school and social situations, which will include facilitating/participating student conflict resolution practices, mediations, and other restorative practices.Provide help and assistance with academic work for students.Collaborate and coordinate with faculty and staff.Provide coverage and student supervision when needed.Communicate effectively orally and in writing.Participate in job-related training and provide training related to school culture, climate, and restorative practices.Manage multiple students, tasks, and needs throughout the day, which will involve active participation and engagement throughout the building during the school day.Meet professional education requirements of school, district and state.Other duties as assigned by the MHS leadership team. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: In depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a school that is affirming, inclusive, and welcoming.Demonstrated knowledge of the restorative practices in schools and/or willingness to gain thorough knowledge and training of restorative practices as soon as possible.Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks Ability to collect and analyze data to inform practices to improve student engagement, behavior, and school culture.Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Secondary school experience as a teacher/school counselor/school social worker.Bilingual English-Spanish is strongly encouraged. Possession of or in the process of obtaining SBL certification is encouraged Possession of appropriate New York State School Social Worker, or School Counselor, or Teacher Certification.
