Title: Interim Director of PreK-12 Special Education Location: Districtwide Supervisor: Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services Position Available: Sept 1, 2022 Requirements: Candidate must hold a N.Y.S. Teaching Assistant Certification Outstanding candidates are sought for the position of Interim Director of Special Education Pre-K-12. Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services, the Director will provide support for all aspects of a comprehensive Pre-K through Grade 12 program for students with disabilities. Knowledge of New York State Part 200 Regulations, IDEA and IEP mandates required. Minimum requirements/responsibilities include:· Oversees elementary and secondary special education along with another Director of Special Education· Assists in the supervision of Department Chairpersons for Special Education and Coordinators for Student Support Services.· Directs the identification, diagnosis, planning, programming, placement and assessment of students with disabilities.· Chairs Initial CSE meetings and monitors IEP mandated requirements, and coordinates District Annual Review CSE schedule.· Assists school administrators with the supervision and evaluation of special education teachers.· Assists with keeping accurate enrollment of students requiring special education services within the district, non-public, and out of district, and tuition students from other communities.· Completes NY State Reporting· Oversees NYS Alternative Assessment Procedures· Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Asst Superintendent for Student Support Services.· Valid New York State School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS)/ School District Administrator (SDA) certification required.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:A professional, patient, and calm demeanorHistory of successful work with children who have attentional, behavioral/emotional, and academic challenges Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills Salary: In accordance with the Agreement between the Board of Education and the Mamaroneck Administrators Association Diverse and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
