A Priority Substitute will perform instruction in collaboration with the special education teacher of the Life Skills teacher or in the testing center. The Priority Substitute will assist in further individualizing programs by working with individual and small groups of students in tandem with the teacher. In the testing room, the priority substitute will work with the team to assure all students receive their necessary accomodations or modifications in line with their IEP and/or 504 plan. In Life Skills, the Priority Substitute will assist the teacher to prepare, adapt, demonstrate, and use instructional materials. In the life skills setting, the Priority Substitute will also teach self-help skills and ABLES. The Priority Substitute will assist in collecting data related to IEP goals and participate in progress monitoring. The role will at times require the implementation of behavior intervention strategies that include, but are not limited to: following a Behavior Intervention plan and/or utilizing CPI training to de-escalate challenging behaviors (physical or verbal).Please address job-specific cover letters to Ms. Lauren Whitenack, Coordinator of Secondary Special Education.
