Many of the innovative programs and vital services that we offer are not available elsewhere.We are searching for a Physical Education Teacher to join our Prospect Center Team in Queensbury, NY. This position is based out of our Prospect Center in Queensbury, NY. Prospect Center has been a leader in improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families in the Tri-County Area (Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties). Our work in advocacy, education, services, and support has created a wider world of opportunity, greater acceptance and more integrated lives for people who have disabilities. Responsibilities:Develops and implements appropriate lesson plans incorporating interdisciplinary goals/objectivesCo-ordinates classroom staff duties in regard to gymnasium activities according to program policies.Maintains a positive and accepting classroom environment for the students.Provides for and monitors the supervision and safety of students at all timesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree required. Masters Degree preferredSpecialized training, license, certification, skills: NYS Initial or Professional Certification in the field of Physical Education; WSI, Life Guarding and CPR; APE Certification is preferred, but not requiredThe employee must regularly lift and or move individuals - may be required to lift 50 pounds independently, up to 150 pounds with assistance of another staff , and use a mechanical lift device as assignedPreferred Qualifications:New York State permanent certification in Special EducationMasters Degree in Special EducationMinimum of two years of experience with students with multiple disabilities.
