The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Leave Replacement Special Education Teacher (HS) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The leave replacement teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop and design lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans (in support of students IEPs) provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.Develop new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies to help students uncover new ideas of their own.Modifies existing instructional plans as necessary to accommodate individual students’ special needs. Working with students individually if they need extra help and support.Build relationships with students and their families through regular communication on IEP progress and feedback.Develop and design lesson plans and assignments in support of students IEPs.Assist students with developing problem solving, motor and social skills needed to complete their education and live independent lives. They may work with their students on personal and life skills in addition to academic curriculum and advancement.Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress.Start Date and Benefits:This position is located in our High School. Position dates: As soon as possible through January 25, 2025. There are no benefits. Qualifications:Experience working in Special Education in a secondary school.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Training and Education:NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities 7-12Salary:$175 per day.Interested Candidates:Submit a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.Posting Deadline:December 2, 2024
