The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Leave Replacement Substitute Mathematics Teacher to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Adapt mathematics curriculum for individual, small groups, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students.Instructing and guiding students on how to solve complex mathematical equations and concepts to enhance their analytical and logical reasoning skills.Developing flexible teaching tools and methods to help students learn mathematics.Working with students individually if they need extra help and support in their math coursework. Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.Work Hours and Benefits:This position is a long term position in our High School with an anticipated start date of Sep 3, 2024 through Oct 15, 2024. Qualifications:In depth knowledge of Mathematics. Experience with Statistics is a plus.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Emotional stability and strong problem-solving skills.Training and Education:NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities (7-12).NYS Certification in Mathematics (7-12).Salary:$175 per day.Interested Candidates:Post a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.Posting Deadline:September 5, 2024.
