Requirements:NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities 7-12NYS Certification in Mathematics 5-9 preferredRESPONSIBILITIES: • The leave replacement teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of thestudents, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroommanagement skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.• Develop and design lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher'spast lesson plans (in support of students IEPs) provided by the regular teacher to createa cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.• Develop new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies to help studentsuncover new ideas of their own.• Modifies existing instructional plans as necessary to accommodate individual students’special needs.• Working with students individually if they need extra help and support.• Adapt mathematics curriculum for individuals and small groups.• Instructing and guiding students on how to solve mathematical equations and concepts.• Develop and use flexible teaching tools and methods to help students learnmathematics.• Build relationships with students and their families through regular communication onIEP progress and feedback.• Develop and design lesson plans and assignments in support of students IEPs.• Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress.QUALIFICATIONS: • Prior Special Education/Math teaching experience in secondary school preferred. Strongbackground in 8th grade Math.
