The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a ENL Teacher to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The ENL Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop and present curriculum ENL lesson plans (course materials and related activities) and assignments to students.Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress.Build and manage trusting relationships with students, parents, and school staff.Keep parents informed of student progress. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the lesson plans.Collaborate with teachers on building, evolving ENL lesson plans for a more consistent student learning experience. Work Hours and Benefits:This position is in our high school with an anticipated start date of Sep 3, 2024. Benefits as per the teachers LVSEA contract. Interested candidates must provide 2 professional references.Qualifications:Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and partner with students & parents in the learning process.Experience designing student-centered lessons that individually challenges students and inspires them to grow.Highly skilled in differentiating instruction to personalize learning to meet the diverse needs of all students.Demonstrated understanding of authentic assessment, data-driven instruction, and methods for gathering and evaluating evidence of deeper learning accounting for learning differences.Experience with the various co-teach models, collaborative lesson planning, and team-teaching.Highly skilled with small group instruction.Emotional stability and strong problem-solving skills.Training and Education:NYS Certification in TESOL K-12.High school experience is preferred.
