The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Leave Replacement Middle School Teacher (Grade 6) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The leave replacement teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.Assess student progress and maintain updated records regularly. Provide any progress reports, and updates to parents as needed. Adapt teaching and instructional methods as needed.Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.Location:This position is at the Middle School with an anticipated start date of Jan 21, 2025 through Apr 10, 2025.Qualifications:Prior experience teaching MS school.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Training and Education:NYS Certification in Childhood Education (1-6)Salary:$175 per day.Interested Candidates:Submit a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.Posting Deadline:December 13, 2024
