Lansingburgh Central School District is accepting applications for an Athletic Director / Associate Dean of Students, with service to commence as soon as practicable. This is a full-time, 11-month position that is represented by the Lansingburgh Administrators Association. This position has a minimum starting salary of $85,000, with excellent fringe benefits. Appropriate NYS Certification as a SDL/SDA is required at the time of application. Athletic Director / Associate Dean Job DescriptionThe Athletic Director oversees and is responsible for all matters relating to the implementation and support of the health education, physical education and athletics programs District-wide. Additionally, the Athletic Director will serve as an Associate Dean of Students in the Lansingburgh High School, engaging with students to assure maximal participation in the educational environment. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment of and recommendation for hiring staff and coaches; ensuring proper credentialing of all athletic coaches, supervision and evaluation of coaches, physical education teachers, health education teachers, school nurses and other non-instructional staff, overseeing the physical education and athletics programs and budgets; facilitating and supporting District-wide health and wellness programs; overseeing the development and implementation of curricula in related areas; collaborating with community organizations; developing and submitting accurate reports at the District and State level; collecting and analyzing data to evaluate program implementation to drive improvement; researching instructional best practices; and developing and/or delivering appropriate professional development opportunities for staff and administrators. REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools QUALIFICATIONS: New York State School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) CertificationNew York State certification in health and/or physical educationMinimum 5 years of teaching experience in either health or physical educationMinimum 5 years administrative experience at building or district levelAbility to communicate effectively with students, teachers, coaches, parents and administratorsAbility to lead, organize and manage a multi-faceted programSuccessful experience as an athletic coach or administratorDemonstrated success as a Physical Education Teacher (preferred)Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected of any candidate for hire.Training and/or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred)PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Administers athletic programs;Develops relationships with at-risk students to assure maximal participation in the educational environment, in conjunction with LHS building leadership.Develops long and short range plans for improving the athletic programs;Recommends the appointment of coaches, physical education teachers, health education teachers and school nurses;Schedules all athletic contests at home and away, and is responsible for carrying out these events;Represents the school at league and sectional meetings;Provides educational leadership in setting goals and objectives for Interscholastic Athletics;Ascertains that School District, New York State and Federal regulations are faithfully observed;Prepares and distributes team rosters;Oversees the disbursement and collection of equipment, maintains accurate inventories and works towards standardization of equipment;Prepares the annual athletic budget;Makes coaching assignments and recommendations; Arranges necessary physical examinations for athletes; Assures that athletic equipment is in proper condition and ready for use;Maintains school’s web site pertaining to athletics, in particular athletic schedules and rosters;Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools;Performs annual evaluation of all coaches (part-time, full-time, paid and volunteer),school nurses and secretary; andPerforms classroom observations of all physical education teachers and health education teachers.
