The Islip School District seeks a dedicated and experienced Cosmetology teacher to join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) team. We offer a supportive school community with numerous professional development opportunities. The successful candidate will provide instruction in Cosmetology to students in grades 11 and 12 at our high school’s on-site cosmetology salon. Key responsibilities include the following: Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in cosmetology, including hair styling, cutting, coloring, skin care, nail care, and salon managementTeach competencies and skills needed to pass the written New York State Cosmetology Licensing Exam (practical and written) Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom/lab environment that reflects industry standardsSupervise and evaluate student progress, develop lesson plans, encourage lifelong learning, and instill safe work habitsCollaborate with other faculty to support student achievement, internships, and career readinessStay current with industry trends and state board requirements Required Qualifications:Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Cosmetology (CTE – Career and Technical Education)Minimum of 2 years of recent, relevant industry experienceStrong communication, classroom management, and organizational skillsPassion for education, mentorship, and student success Please submit letter a of interest and resume via OLAS to: Donna Brower, Assistant Superintendent for Hunan Resources
