Long-Term Substitute Elementary School Social Worker (Per Diem)*New York State School Social Worker Certification is required.Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to applyThe Islip School District is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and student-centered Long-Term Substitute Elementary School Social Worker to join our team from September to December 2025. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Providing social-emotional support and intervention to elementary students in grades K-5.Provide push-in whole class social/emotional instruction.Communicate information to students, parents, staff, community members; providing written support, developing recommendations and/or conveying information.Working collaboratively with administration, teachers, and student support services to address student needs and develop appropriate interventions.Conducting individual and small group counseling sessions to support student well-being and academic success.Counsel students, staff, parents/legal guardians for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, resolving conflicts, referral to appropriate professionals and enhancing probability of student success in school.Assisting families in understanding school policies and procedures and connecting them with community resources as needed.Supporting and attending school activities and events to foster a positive school environment.Well-versed in crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies.Knowledge in data collection strategies to support social/emotional wellness and behavioral growth.Other assignments as directed by supervisors.We are looking for a dedicated professional who is passionate about supporting the holistic development of our students.Applications will be accepted through OLAS only.
