Job Description The Indian Lake Central School District seeks a dynamic and dedicated Social Studies teacher for grades 7–12. The ideal candidate will have experience with Regents-level coursework. This position provides opportunities to shape curriculum, expand college pathways, and work closely with motivated students in a collaborative, supportive environment. Qualifications and Responsibilities Candidates will be considered based on their ability to demonstrate the following: Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Social Studies (Grades 7–12 required) Strong knowledge of NYS Social Studies Learning Standards, Regents curriculum, and assessment frameworks Experience teaching Regents-level courses and preparing students for Regents examinations Experience or interest in teaching dual enrollment or college-level social studies coursework (e.g., U.S. History, Government, Economics, Sociology, or related courses) Ability to design rigorous, inquiry-based instruction aligned to Regents and college-level expectations Experience using data-driven instructional practices to support student achievement and Regents success Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning environment Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including students with disabilities Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, colleagues, and postsecondary partners Commitment to promoting civic literacy, critical thinking, historical inquiry, and social-emotional learning Willingness to participate in professional development, curriculum development, and school initiatives, including expansion of dual enrollment pathways Familiarity with instructional technology, digital learning platforms, and blended learning environments preferred Coaching, Advising, and Extracurricular Opportunities Opportunities may be available for coaching and/or advising extracurricular activities based on district needs and candidate interest.
