Job Posting: Nurses or Substitute Nurses- Either Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) or Registered Nurses (RN) Position Type: Temporary for the Extended Day Program (February 2, 2026 – March 27, 2026; 2 days a week from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM)Location: Violet Avenue Elementary School and Netherwood Elementary SchoolStart Date: February 2, 2026The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking nurses and substitute nurses to join our student health team and support students at elementary schools with the Extended Day Program. These are part time, seasonal positions after school. LPN:Key Responsibilities:Provide direct nursing care to students throughout the school daySupport and assist with routine health screeningsMaintain accurate and confidential student health records, documenting all care, observations, and communicationsServe as a liaison between families and community health resourcesAlert families to health concerns and connect them with appropriate interventionsSupport daily management of student health needs including medication administration, symptom monitoring, and ongoing parent communicationPromote a safe, healthy school environment and ease parental anxiety through consistent, high-quality nursing careQualificationsCurrent New York State LPN LicenseCurrent CPR and First Aid certificationSchool nursing or pediatric experience preferredStrong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsCommitment to confidentiality and professionalismRN:Key Responsibilities:Provide direct nursing care to students and staff, including first aid, emergency care, and management of chronic conditions.Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with NYSED and HIPAA guidelines.Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to physician orders and parental consent.Conduct mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc.) and follow up as required.Monitor and manage communicable diseases and report to the Department of Health as necessary.Serve as a liaison between home, school, and community health resources.Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) for students with special medical needs.Participate in the Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings as needed.Maintain an organized and hygienic health office and ensure appropriate inventory of supplies.Promote health education activities for students and staff.Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators on student wellness and attendance.Qualifications:Valid New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License.Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred).Certification: Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (must be maintained throughout employment).Experience: Prior experience in pediatrics, public health, or school nursing preferred.Strong assessment, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.The Hyde Park Central School District is an equal opportunity employer.Hyde Park Central School District’s new Presidential Perks is a special program designed to help our essential staff save money.
