Job Posting: Part-Time (.8) Teacher (Social Studies, Grades 7–12) Job Title: Part-Time (.8) Teacher Location: George W. Hewlett High School Start Date: August 26, 2026 Position Overview Hewlett Woodmere Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and dynamic part-time (.8) Social Studies teacher to join our faculty beginning August 26, 2026. This position will serve students in grades 7–12. The ideal candidate is a collaborative educator committed to fostering critical thinking, civic engagement, and academic excellence across diverse learners. Key Responsibilities Teach Social Studies courses across multiple grade levels (7–12), including various academic levels Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction aligned to NYSED frameworks Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) environments Develop and implement assessments to measure student learning and growth Collect, analyze, and use student data to inform instruction and improve outcomes Collaborate with colleagues, co-teachers, and support staff to enhance student success Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff Qualifications Valid NYSED Certification in Social Studies (Grades 7–12 required) Strong knowledge of NYSED Social Studies standards and frameworks Experience teaching middle and/or high school students preferred Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver effective instruction across grade levels Experience working in collaborative and ICT classroom settings Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Commitment to continuous professional growth Application Process Interested candidates must submit the following: Cover letter Resume Copy of valid NYS Certification (Social Studies 7–12) Hewlett Woodmere Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.
