Franklin Early Childhood Center is seeking a full-time School Psychologist - Focus on CPSE (preschool) with a start date of July 1, 2026. The School Psychologist will provide comprehensive psychological services to preschool-aged students (ages 3–5) referred through the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). The psychologist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support early identification, evaluation, and intervention for students with developmental delays and disabilities in accordance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations and IDEA Part B requirements. In addition, the psychologist will help support the Franklin Early Childhood preschool and school age students and staff regarding social emotional needs, progress monitoring of data, and strategies and interventions. Key Responsibilities Evaluation and Assessment • Coordinate comprehensive psychological evaluations for preschool-aged children referred to CPSE. • Administer standardized cognitive, developmental, behavioral, and social-emotional assessments for school age/preschool students as needed. • Interpret evaluation for CPSE/CSE meetings. • Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations with related service providers (speech, OT, PT, etc.). CPSE Process and Compliance • Attend and participate in CPSE/CSE meetings as a district representative when assigned. • Provide professional recommendations regarding eligibility classifications and educational programming. • Ensure evaluations and documentation meet NYSED and federal timelines and compliance requirements. Consultation and Collaboration • Collaborate with preschool teachers, service providers, administrators, and families. • Provide consultation regarding early childhood development, behavioral concerns, and intervention strategies. • Support transition planning from CPSE to Committee on Special Education (CSE) services when appropriate. Student Support • Provide behavioral and social-emotional consultation for preschool students receiving services in district programs or community-based settings. • Assist in developing appropriate early intervention strategies and supports. • Contribute to development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). • Conduct observations and site visits of students in preparation for CPSE/CSE meetings, projections and overall support of the student. Family Engagement • Communicate evaluation results to parents/guardians in a clear and supportive manner. • Provide resources and guidance to families regarding early childhood development and services. Documentation and Compliance • Maintain accurate records and reports in accordance with district procedures and state regulations. • Track evaluation timelines and ensure compliance with CPSE mandates. Qualifications Required • Valid New York State Certification as a School Psychologist • Experience conducting psychoeducational assessments with young children • Knowledge of CPSE regulations, NYSED guidelines, and IDEA • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families Preferred • Experience working with preschool populations (ages 3–5) • Familiarity with early childhood assessment tools • Experience with community-based preschool programs and related service providers • Doctorate level degree in education, psychology, or related field Key Skills • Early childhood developmental assessment • Behavioral and social-emotional evaluation • Collaborative consultation • Strong report writing and documentation • Family-centered communication Salary and Benefits Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and in accordance with district contracts and New York State public school guidelines.
